The Role of Reconfigurable Production Systems and Supplier Responsiveness on Product Responsiveness: An Application in the Manufacturing Sector

Abstract

Having reconfigurable production systems and supplier responsiveness capability is important for businesses in terms of reacting to sudden and unexpected situations. This study aims to analyze whether reconfigurable production systems and supplier responsiveness have an impact on product responsiveness. As a result of the literature search, no study addressing this effect has been found. It is thought that a study conducted in this direction will contribute to the literature, filling the gap in the relevant field. In this study, an application was carried out by developing two separate hypotheses. 397 questionnaires were administered to senior executives of medium and large-sized businesses operating in the manufacturing sector in Turkey. The results obtained by testing the reliability analysis and construct validity with the obtained data are presented. In addition, the research model was tested using the structural equation model. As a result of the hypothesis tests, a positive relationship was found between reconfigurable production systems and product responsiveness. Hypotheses have been verified by detecting a positive relationship between supplier responsiveness and product responsiveness.

Yeniden Yapılandırılabilir Üretim Sistemlerinin ve Tedarikçi Cevap Verebilirliğinin, Ürün Cevap Verebilirliği Üzerindeki Rolü: İmalat Sektöründe Bir Uygulama

Abstract

İşletmelerin, yeniden yapılandırılabilir üretim sistemlerine ve tedarikçi cevap verebilirliği yeteneğine sahip olması; ani ve öngörülmeyen durumlara tepki verilmesi açısından önem arz etmektedir. Bu çalışmanın amacı, yeniden yapılandırılabilir üretim sistemlerinin ve tedarikçi cevap verebilirliğinin, ürün cevap verebilirliği üzerinde etkisinin olup olmadığını incelemektir. Gerçekleştirilen literatür taraması sonucunda, bu etkinin ele alındığı bir çalışma ile karşılaşılmamıştır. Bu doğrultuda yapılan çalışmanın, ilgili alandaki boşluğu doldurarak, literatüre katkı sağlayacağı düşünülmektedir. Çalışmada, iki ayrı hipotez oluşturularak, bir uygulama gerçekleştirilmiştir. Türkiye’de imalat sektöründe faaliyet gösteren orta ve büyük ölçekli işletmelerin üst düzey yöneticilerinden, 397’sinin katılımıyla anket yapılmıştır. Elde edilen veriler ile güvenilirlik analizi ve yapı geçerliliği test edilerek ulaşılan sonuçlar sunulmuştur. Ayrıca, yapısal eşitlik modeli kullanılarak araştırma modeli sınanmıştır. Hipotez testleri sonucunda, yeniden yapılandırılabilir üretim sistemleri ile ürün cevap verebilirliği arasında olumlu yönde bir ilişki tespit edilmiştir. Tedarikçi cevap verebilirliği ile ürün cevap verebilirliği arasında da olumlu yönde bir ilişki tespit edilerek, hipotezler doğrulanmıştır.
