Abstract
Günümüzde, rekabet kavramı daha çok firma düzeyinde bir kavram olmakla beraber, artık ulusal düzeyde de ele alınmaya başlanmıştır. Rekabet şartlarının değişken bir yapı içerisinde olması ve yaşanan küreselleşme, bir ulusun rekabet üstünlüğünün analiz edilebilmesi açısından yeni yöntemlerin uygulanması gerekliliğini ortaya koymuştur. Bu kapsamda Michael E. Porter, kapsamlı bir araştırma niteliği taşımakta olan, Elmas Modeli (Diamond Model)’ni ortaya koymuştur. “Bazı ulusların neden diğerlerine göre belirli sektörlerde daha rekabetçi olduğu” sorusuna yanıt vermeye çalışılan model, belirli bir sektörde ulusal rekabet gücünü belirleyen bazı unsurların birbirleriyle ilişkili olarak incelenmesini öngörmektedir. Bu çalışmanın amacı, ulusların rekabet üstünlüğü sağlamasında Porter’ın literatüre kazandırdığı “Elmas Modeli” yaklaşımının değerlendirilmesi ve modele yönelik eleştirilerin ortaya konulmasıdır.
Abstract
Nowadays, the concept of competition is more a concept at the firm level but now has begun to be addressed at national level. Competitive conditions within a variable structure and the globalization have revealed the necessity of the implementation of new methods in terms of analyzing the competitive advantage for a nation. In this context, Michael E. Porter, constitutes a comprehensive survey of the work and Diamond Model that are being demonstrated. The Model is trying to answer "why some nations are more competitive than others in certain sectors" and foresees to examine the strength of the national competition in a particular sector and some elements in relation to each other. The purpose of this study is the evaluation of “Diamond Model” approach which was imparted to the literature by Porter on competitive advantage of nations and criticism of the model.
