The Importance of Writing in D2 Learning and Some Suggestions

Abstract

The ability to read and write sufficiently is one of the essential elements for all areas of learning in the school curriculum. Because literacy is not only a school achievement, but also has positive effects on many factors, such as maintaining of individual's satisfactory work outside school, continuing and supporting financial stability, protecting personal autonomy and improving self-confidence. In short, it is not overstressed when it said that literacy skills determine the fate of the people. However, looking at the results of research done in recent years on this ability, which has such an important place in human life, it is surprisingly alarming that the number of people who have not acquired enough skills in reading and especially writing for various reasons has increased and warnings about the negativities that this increase may cause. In this article, practical suggestions were made about methods to support second language students to research some causes of literacy problems and to remove these reasons from the acquisition of the second language.

D2 Öğreniminde Yazmanın Önemi ve Bazı Öneriler

Abstract

Yeterli derecede okuma ve yazabilme yeteneği, okul müfredatındaki tüm öğrenim alanları için vazgeçilmez temel unsurlardan biridir. Çünkü okuryazarlık becerisi sadece okul başarısını değil, aynı zamanda da bireyin okulun ötesinde tatmin edici çalışmasını sürdürme, yaşama tutunma, finansal istikrarını sağlama, kişisel özerkliğini koruma ve özsaygısını geliştirme gibi birçok olgunun üzerinde olumlu etkisi vardır. Kısacası okuryazarlık becerisi kişilerin yazgısını belirlediği söylendiğinde abartılmış sayılmaz. Ancak insan hayatında bu kadar önemli bir yere sahip olan bu beceriye ilişkin son yıllarda yapılan araştırmaların sonuçlarına bakıldığında, çeşitli nedenlerle okuma ve özellikle yazma becerisini yeterli düzeyde edinememiş kişilerin sayısında artışın ve bu artışın yol açtığı/açabileceği olumsuzluklara ilişkin uyarıların şaşırtıcı şekilde arttığı görülür. Bu makalede okuryazarlık sorunlarının bazı nedenlerinin araştırılmasıyla birlikte ikinci dil (D2) ediniminde bu nedenlerin ortadan kaldırılmasına yönelik D2 öğrencilerini destekleyebilecek yöntemler hakkında pratik önerilerde bulunulmuştur.
