Social Work Research in Turkey: An Overview of Social Work Theses in the Last 10 Years

Abstract

Social
work research intend to promote efficient practice, develop new service models
and make social policy through producing knowledge for understanding and
resolving social problems. For this reason, social work research has to
determine research topics according to the dynamic structure of social
problems. The theses at the graduate level, which have an important place among
the social work researches, make a considerable contribution to the social work
literature at the academic level. In this study, a total of 213 graduate thesis
documents produced in the last 10 years were examined, including 171 master and
42 doctorate theses of all social work departments in Turkey.

Abstract

Sosyal hizmet
araştırması sosyal sorunların anlaşılması ve çözümlenmesine yönelik bilgi
sağlayarak etkili uygulamaya katkı sunma, yeni hizmet modelleri geliştirme ve
sosyal politika üretme amacı güden bilimsel çalışmadır. Bu nedenle sosyal
hizmet araştırması sosyal sorunların değişken ve dinamik yapısına göre
araştırma konularını belirlemek durumundadır. Sosyal hizmet araştırmaları
arasında önemli bir yeri olan lisansüstü düzeydeki tezler, akademik düzeyde
sosyal hizmet alan yazınına oldukça önemli bir katkıda bulunmaktadır. Buradan
hareketle bu çalışmada son 10 yılda Türkiye’deki tüm sosyal hizmet anabilim dallarında
yazılan 171’i yüksek lisans, 42’si doktora tezi olmak üzere toplam 213
lisansüstü tez doküman incelemesi tekniği ile değerlendirilmiştir.
