Electrical Resistivity Tomography Studies within the Scope of Detection of Malazgirt Battlefield

Year 2022, Volume: 3 Issue: 2, 50 - 55, 31.12.2022

Abstract

Within the scope of the project initiated to determine the area where the Battle of Malazgirt took place, which has a very important place in Turkish history, geophysical studies have been carried out in order to determine the buried graves. In the studies carried out with the electrical resistivity tomography technique, which is frequently used in shallow geophysical surveys, test measurements have been first taken in an old Christian village known as Afşin district today and where there are many Muslim graves. The success of the method in this field has been tested with the electrical resistivity tomography profile taken that cuts the traces vertically that can be observed on the surface. The measured apparent resistivity values have been converted to real resistivity values by the 2D inversion technique and the inverse model resistivity section has been obtained. It has been observed that the burial graves can be successfully determined by the subsurface resistivity distribution in the section. Then, electrical resistivity measurements have been carried out on a volcanic hill at an altitude of 1750 m, known as Ziyarettepe or Alparslan tomb, which is believed to have many burial graves. Significant resistivity anomalies have been determined in the inverse model resistivity sections and these areas have been suggested for the next period excavation works.

Malazgirt Savaş Alanının Tespiti Kapsamında Elektrik Özdirenç Tomografi Çalışmaları

Year 2022, Volume: 3 Issue: 2, 50 - 55, 31.12.2022
