Walter Benjamin’in “Die Aufgabe des Übersetzers [Çevirmenin Görevi]” Adlı Eserinin Çeviribilim ve Felsefe Temelinde Analizi
Abstract
Çeviribilim ve felsefe alanları çerçevesinde yürütülen disiplinlerarası bu çalışmanın konusunu, çağdaş felsefenin önde gelen isimlerinden biri olan Walter Benjamin’in çeviri anlayışını ortaya koyduğu eseri, “Die Aufgabe des Überzetsers [Çevirmenin Görevi]” oluşturmaktadır. Çalışmamızda söz konusu eserin içeriği detaylı bir biçimde analiz edilerek değerlendirilmiş, ortaya konulan analiz ve değerlendirme çıktıları doğrultusunda, Benjamin okuyucusuna metni alımlama ve derinlemesine yorumlama hususunda bir katkı sağlamak amaçlanmıştır. Bu amaç doğrultusunda, çalışmamızın ilk kısmında Benjamin’in söz konusu eserine ilişkin genel bir çerçeve ortaya konulmuş, ikinci kısmında hazırlanan tablo vasıtasıyla genel anlamda metnin içeriksel planı oluşturulmuş ve son kısımda ise hazırlanan tabloda ifade edilen temel alt konu başlıklarına dair çalışmamızın amacı doğrultusunda analiz ve değerlendirmelerde bulunulmuştur. Benjamin’in eserinde ortaya koyduğu çeviri anlayışının ve çevirmene yüklediği görevin temel yapıtaşları şu şekilde dile getirilebilir: Benjamin, çeviriyi bir aktarım/bildirme eylemi olarak görmeyip onu bir form/biçim olarak ele almaktadır. Ona göre, çeviri eylemi vasıtasıyla özgün metin, yeni bir form kazanarak varoluşunu sürdürmektedir. Diğer taraftan çeviri eylemi, metinlerarası bir olgu olmanın ötesinde, diller arasındaki iç ilişki ve bağlantıyla alakalıdır. Bu bakımdan çeviri eylemi aracılığıyla Benjamin’in “salt dil” veya “gerçek dil” olarak betimlediği dile bir yönelim söz konusu olmaktadır. Bu bağlamda çevirmenin görevi, “bir başka dilin etkisi altında bulunan salt dili, kendi dilinde özgürlüğe kavuşturmak” olarak ifade edilmektedir.

Analysis of Walter Benjamin's "Die Augabe Des Übersetzers [The Task of the Translator]" Based on Translation Studies and Philosophy
Abstract
The subject of this interdisciplinary study, carried out within the framework of translation studies and philosophy, is Walter Benjamin's work, "Die Aufgabe des Überzetsers [The Task of the Translator]", in which he reveals his understanding of translation. In our study, the content of the work in question has been analyzed and evaluated in detail. In line with the analysis and evaluation outputs, it is aimed to contribute to Benjamin's reader in terms of reception and intensive interpretation of the text. In line with this purpose, in the first part of our study, a general framework regarding Benjamin's work above was put forward; in the second part, the contextual plan of the text was created in general with the help of the table prepared, and in the last part, the main sub-topics expressed in the prepared table were analyzed and evaluated in line with the purpose of our study. The basic building blocks of the understanding of translation that Benjamin puts forth in his work and the task he assigns to the translator can be expressed as follows: Benjamin does not see translation as an act of transmission/declaration but considers it a form. According to him, the original text continues by gaining a new form through translation. On the other hand, beyond being an intertextual phenomenon, translation is about the internal relationship and connection between languages. In this respect, through the act of translation, there is an orientation to the language that Benjamin describes as "pure language" or "real language". In this context, the task of the translator is expressed as "to liberate the pure language under the influence of another language in its own language".
