DETERMINANTS OF SAVINGS IN DIFFERENT INCOME GROUP COUNTRIES: PANEL DATA ANALYSIS

Abstract

The main aim of this study is to analyze the determinants
of savings of countries in different income groups. For this purpose, the classification
of high-income countries, upper-middle income countries and low-middle income countries
were used. 
2000-2014 period was taken and
panel data
  method was applied. As a
result, there is a positive relationship between gross domestic saving and deposit
interest rate, per capita income growth, inflation rate, urban population growth
and rural population growth; negative relationship between unemployment rate
and gross domestic saving in high- income countries and upper-middle income countries.
There is a positive relationship between gross domestic saving and deposit interest
rate, per capita income growth and inflation rate; negative relationship between
unemployment rate, urban population growth and rural population growth in
low-middle income countries.

FARKLI GELİR GRUPLARINDAKİ ÜLKELERDE TASARRUFLARIN BELİRLEYİCİ: PANEL VERİ ANALİZİ

Abstract

Bu çalışmanın amacı, farklı gelir gruplarında yer
alan ülkelerde tasarrufların belirleyicilerini analiz etmektir. Bu amaçla,
yüksek gelirli ülkeler, üst-orta gelirli ülkeler ve düşük orta gelirli ülkeler
sınıflandırması kullanılmıştır. 2000-2014 dönemi alınmış ve panel veri yöntemi
uygulanmıştır. Sonuç olarak, yüksek gelirli ülkelerde ve üst-orta gelirli
ülkelerde yurt içi tasarruflarla mevduat faiz oranı, kişi başına düşen gelir
artışı, enflasyon oranı, kentsel nüfus artışı ve kırsal nüfus artışı arasında
pozitif ilişki; işsizlik oranı ile yurt içi tasarruflar arasında negatif ilişki
vardır. Düşük orta gelirli ülkelerde, yurt içi tasarruflarla mevduat faiz
oranı, kişi başına düşen gelir artışı ve enflasyon arasında pozitif ilişki;
işsizlik oranı, kentsel nüfus artışı ve kırsal nüfus artışı ile yurt içi
tasarruflar arasında negatif ilişki vardır.
