Klinik Sosyal Hizmet Alanında İntiharın Yeri

Abstract

İntihar, Dünya Sağlık Örgütü tarafından bir halk sağlığı sorunu olarak kabul edilmektedir. Dünya genelinde yılda bir milyona yakın kişi intihar etmekte ve 15-29 yaş aralığında gençlerin ölüm nedenleri arasında intihar üçüncü sırada yer almaktadır. Bu duruma yönelik ruh sağlığı alanında yer alan disiplinler çeşitli çalışmalar yapmaktadır. Bu disiplinlerden biri de sosyal hizmetin alt alanı olan klinik sosyal hizmet alanıdır. Sosyal hizmet disiplininde intihar ile ilgili akademik çalışmaların türlerine bakıldığında çalışmaların büyük çoğunluğunun (%60) açıklayıcı çalışmalar olduğu sonrasında betimleyici çalışmaların (%30) geldiği, müdahaleye yönelik çalışmaların ise bu çalışmaların çok azını (%10) oluşturduğu görülmektedir. Bununla birlikte, literatürde intihar olgularıyla çalışan sosyal hizmet uzmanlarının müdahale konusunda kendini yetersiz gördüklerini ve durumla ilgili eğitimler talep ettikleri görülmüştür. Bu verilerden hareketle sosyal hizmet disiplininde intihar konusunda müdahale araştırmalarına yönelik ihtiyacın söz konusu olduğu görülmekte ve bu ihtiyacın karşılanmasına yönelik çabaların sosyal hizmet uzmanlarını bu alanda güçlendireceği düşünülmektedir.
