The researchers in this study aimed to present information about the consequences of sharing photos of children on social media in the context of child rights and to investigate special education teachers’ shares which include their students with special educational needs. Designing the study with document analysis, one of the qualitative methods, the researchers investigated 1951 photos and 1262 videos shared by 52 open accounts on Instagram. One main theme and four sub themes were identified as a result of the analysis. Results showed that most of the special education teachers who are the owners of the open accounts did not hide visual identities of students with special educational needs, shared their students’ face and physical features explicitly, as well as their names in the descriptions on Instagram. The results also demonstrated that the special education teachers had physical contacts with their students with special educational needs and the most frequent types of physical contacts were lapping, hugging and kissing. Besides, visual contents were corresponded to written descriptions on most of the shares. Finally, overwhelming majority of the shares took place in classroom, garden, playground of the schools or special education and rehabilitation centers.
