In this research, it was aimed to determine the Ottoman image of university students. The study structured with an interview form approach in accordance with qualitative research procedures. A homogeneous sampling method was preferred in the study. For this purpose, Bingöl University Departments of Philosophy and Zaza Language and Literature students were selected as subgroups. Thirty students were employed in total, fifteen of whom were selected among the final year students. The data was collected by standardised open-ended interview method, and was analysed by content analysis technique. The survey found that the students had a positive, partly neutral and rarely negative image of the Ottoman concept, close to half, that they physically used the descriptions of the Ottoman paintings without specifying any gender but using male descriptions, that the images for the Ottoman interior were mostly positive. In addition, the majority of the students were of the opinion that the Ottoman was not an imperialist state, on the contrary as a religious state. It was also seen that the students had a view that the Ottomans contributed to the science world, and that in daily living there was a patriarchal family structure and the religious life was considered significant.
Bu
araştırmada üniversite öğrencilerinin Osmanlı imajının belirlenmesi
amaçlanmıştır. Çalışma nitel araştırma prosedürlerine uygun olarak görüşme
formu yaklaşımıyla yapılandırılmıştır. Araştırmada benzeşik (homojen) örnekleme
yöntemi tercih edilmiştir. Bu amaçla alt grup olarak Bingöl Üniversitesi
Felsefe ve Zaza Dili ve Edebiyatı Bölümleri öğrencileri seçilmiştir. Son sınıflardan
15’er öğrenci seçilmiş ve toplamda 30 kişi ile çalışılmıştır. Veriler
standartlaştırılmış açık uçlu görüşme yöntemiyle toplanmış, içerik analizi
tekniğiyle çözümlenmiştir. Araştırmada, öğrencilerin yarıya yakının Osmanlı
kavramına ilişkin pozitif, kısmen nötr ve nadiren negatif imaja sahip
oldukları, fiziksel olarak Osmanlı tasviri yaparken daha çok herhangi bir
cinsiyet belirtmeden ama erkek betimlemeleri kullanarak tanımlamalar
yaptıkları, Osmanlıların iç dünyasına yönelik imajlar çoğunlukla pozitif olduğu,
öğrencilerin kısmî çoğunluğunun Osmanlıların sömürgeci bir devlet olmadığı
imajına sahip oldukları, öğrencilerin çoğunluğunun Osmanlı Devleti’ni bir din
devleti olarak düşündükleri, gündelik yaşamda ataerkil bir aile yapısı ve dini
hayatın merkeze alındığı imajının hakim olduğu, öğrencilerin tamamının
Osmanlıların bilim dünyasına katkıları olduğu imajına sahip oldukları
sonuçlarına ulaşılmıştır.
