How Long Does the Publication Evaluation Process Continue?
It is envisaged that the publication evaluation process of the works submitted to Bingöl University Journal of Social Sciences Institute should be finalized within 6 months at the latest. However, the period between the date the referee or the editors request correction from the author and the date the authors complete the corrections is not included in this 6-month period.
First and Preliminary Evaluation Process
After the uploading of the research to the system of the Institute of Social Sciences of Bingöl University, the editors, editorial assistants or field experts first make a general evaluation. In these evaluations, it is checked whether the research can be published in terms of general principles and it is possible to send a referee. At the result of the evaluation, the researches that are not original, not compatible with ethical rules, and that do not comply with the rules of publication and writing is rejected. In problematic investigations, the clauses and principles to be removed, completed, corrected / regulated are determined. The author is asked to complete these shortcomings. Referees are appointed for such revised examinations and for problem-free articles to be sent to the referees.
Refereeing Process
Referees may be appointed from the referee pool by examining the content of the studies and the expertise areas of the referees. Referees may be proposed by the field experts or the editorial board of the journal. Editors observe referee candidates, the process is finalized, and the articles are sent to the referees appointed according to the double-blind peer review system.
Double Blind Peer Review and Evaluation Process
The double-blind peer review method is based on the objective evaluation of scientific studies. In this system both the reviewer and the author are anonymous. Referee names are kept strictly confidential. Referee identities may only be disclosed to journal Editorial Board members, who are also instructed to maintain confidentiality.
The studies submitted to Bingöl University Journal of Social Sciences Institute are evaluated by double-blind peer review system according to the following stages.
Evaluation Process of the Referees
Referees are given a certain period for the evaluation process. During this period, the referees make their evaluations and present their reports. The authors in accordance with the Editorial Principles and Written Rules and in a timely manner shall complete the correction proposal from the referees or from a specialist editorial board member. The referees can decide on the suitability of the works reviewing their corrections as well as request multiple corrections. Finally, they present their opinions/decisions.
Referee Reports
Referee evaluations are generally based on the examination of the works in terms of originality, the method used, the conformity with the ethical rules, the consistent presentation of the findings and results, and literature. This review is based on the following elements:
Introduction and literature: It consists of the presentation and purpose of the problem in the study, the importance of the issue, the scope of the literature relevant to the subject, the update and the originality of the work.
Methodology: It consists of the opinions such as appropriateness of the method used, the selection and characteristics of the research group, information on validity and reliability, as well as the data collection and analysis process.
Findings: It consists of the opinions such as the presentation of the findings found in the frame of the method, the correctness of the analysis methods, the consistency of the findings obtained with the aims of the research, the presentation of the required tables, figures and images and the conceptual evaluation of the used tests.
Evaluation and discussion: It consists of the opinions such as discussion of the subject based on findings, relevance of research questions and hypothesis, generalizability and applicability.
Conclusion and suggestions: It consists of the opinions such as contributions to the literature, suggestions for future work and applications in the area.
Style and narration: It consists of the opinions such as if the title includes the content or not, using language appropriate in the rules, references and resurrection in the direction of the examples shown in publication and writing principles of the journal.
General evaluation: It consists of the opinions about the publication and writing criteria, originality of the prepared work, the contributions to the literary works and the applications on the ground. Referee views and evaluations cannot be disruptive to the work's general fiction and features.
Final Evaluation of the Editors and Decision of Editorial Board
The field editor reviews the opinions submitted by the referees within a certain period. At the end of the review, the field editor passes the final decision on the work to the editors. The editors submit the results of the evaluation and corrections to the Editorial Board based on the opinions of the field editor and the referee. According to the opinion of the editorial board, it is decided to operate the opinions about the article such as its return, publishing or correction. These views are conveyed to authors immediately. Plagiarism reports are taken for positive articles, and according to these reports, the publication decision on the articles is followed.
Objection to the Evaluation
The evaluation made by Bingol University Journal of Social Sciences Institute is submitted to the authors. The authors have the right to object to the opinions generated because of evaluations of the editorial board or the scientific committee. The authors may send a reasoned complaint about the evaluation result to the digital address of our magazine with reference to a scientific language and grounds. The editorial board reviews complaints as soon as possible. Opinions can be requested from the relevant referees about the objections made. Positive or negative feedbacks are given to the authors regarding the results. If the authors' objections to the evaluation are found to be positive, the editorial board in accordance with the field of work may appoint new editorial committees. In this case, the referee evaluation process is restarted.
After the Confirmation
At the result of the evaluation carried out in the Journal of Social Sciences Institute of Bingöl University, dates of arrival and acceptance, the personal information of the authors and the ORCID number, the international author identity number, are added to the first page of accepted studies. The article's plagiarism, bibliography, language and citation control, design and string are controlled. After these actions, online open access is released as open. The DOI number is taken for this publication. After this process, DOI number is added on the first page of the articles by rearranging. This final copy is uploaded to the system again; the publication is updated online and sent to the publication.
Language Editing
The works submitted to Bingöl University Journal of Social Sciences Institute should be written in a simple, clear, clean and fluent language according to the Turkish, English or Arabic language rules and their scientific literature according to the language situation. If the language control of the articles to be installed in the system is done in advance, the publishing processes will be maintained more healthily because one of the acceptance criteria of the study will be completed. If this criterion is not met, it may be required from the authors to check the language of their works during the evaluation process or at the acceptance stage.
DOI Number
Completed works are published online. For each work, CrossRef DOI number is taken through DergiPark. Digital Object Identifier (DOI) is an access number that enables international identification and access of any work published in the electronic environment.
